In order to adjust the mold gap for the best punching effect, the following methods can be adopted:
1. Washers method: This method requires the use of paper, metal plates, or formed workpieces with uniform thickness and the same gap value. Place these materials around the edge of the female mold, then slowly close the mold and place an equal height pad so that the male mold can enter the edge of the female mold. Observe the gap between the male and female molds. If it is uneven, adjust the gap by lightly tapping the punch fixing plate until it is even. Then tighten the fixing screws of the upper mold, put the paper into the trial punching hole, and observe the cutting situation of the paper until the gap is even. Finally, after clamping the upper mold frame and fixing plate, drill and hinge the positioning pin holes together, and then drill cylindrical pins.
2. Copper plating method: For punching dies with complex shapes and a large number of punches, a layer of soft metal (such as copper plating) can be plated on the surface of the punch, with a coating thickness equal to the punching gap value on one side. Then adjust, fix, and position according to the above method.
3. Light transmission method: After the upper and lower molds are closed, use light to illuminate the bottom surface, observe the size of the light gap around the edges of the convex and concave molds, and determine whether the punching gap is even.
In addition, there is a coating method that can apply a layer of paint (such as enamel or amino alkyd insulation paint) on the convex mold, with a thickness equal to the matching gap (single side) between the convex and concave molds, and then insert the convex mold into the concave mold hole to obtain a uniform punching gap. The characteristic of this method is that the gap is uniform but the process is complex.
